49th (Hertfordshire) Regiment Portrait Miniature. A good quality small oval portrait miniature on ivory of ‘Captain Webb’ shown wearing scarlet coatee with upright green collar, gold epaulette, white shoulder belt and belt plate in gilt and silver; a label on the reverse states ‘Captn. Webb 49th Regiment My Great Uncle W.W.S. Follett’. Together with another fine portrait miniature of a lady shown in a day dress of c. 1830, a label on the reverse states ‘My Grandmother Mrs. Follett formerly Miss Webb of Kingsale County Cork’, both portraits executed by the well known miniaturist Frederick Buck, very fine condition (2) £200-300
