15th The King’s Hussars Victorian Mameluke Levee Sword, a fine quality example, the 81 cm blade with clip back point by Hamburger Rogers and Co., King St., Covent Gardn, London. The unfullered blade etched with St. Edward’s crown within a star over ‘XV King’s Hussars’ on both sides within panels of foliate scrolling, decorated gilt brass cross piece and langets, two piece chequered and carved ivory grip, in its gilt brass and fish skin panelled scabbard. (See Robson p.97 Figs. 84/85). The blade with some rusting and pitting but retains a considerable amount of original polish, all the gilt brass areas require careful cleaning.
