M. E. Coleman was appointed an Acting Sub-Lieutenant in the Royal Navy on 1 September 1952, serving in the Supply and Secretariat Department. Promoted to Lieutenant on 1 March 1954 and Lieutenant-Commander on 1 March 1962. On the Retired List of 1969.
