Albert Mitchell was born in Bragmore, Cornwall on 18 October 1869. Entering the Royal Navy as a Stoker 2nd Class in June 1889, he attained the rank of Stoker Petty Officer in July 1906. Awarded the L.S. & G.C. in 1902. Pensioned in 1911, he joined the R.F.R. in the same year. Mitchell returned to the service, August 1914-April 1919, serving on the old battleship Caesar, August 1914-June 1917. With a postcard of H.M.S. Hermione and copied service papers.
