Indian Mutiny 1857-59, 1 clasp, Delhi (Drum Major Charles Higgins, 75th Foot) later style impressed naming, minor edge bruising, good very fine £200-250

Charles Higgins was born in Cam, Gloucetsershire. He attested for the Scots Fusilier Guards at London on 16 May 1836, aged 12 years. Transferred to the 75th Regiment in April 1849. He was first appointed a Drummer in April 1839 and Drum Major in April 1849 but was several times reduced from both ranks. By the time he was discharged he had received 16 entries in the defaulters book and had been tried by courts martial six times. Served in India for over 12 years. He was discharged at Aldershot on 19 October 1864. With copied discharge papers and roll extract.
