Military General Service 1793-1814, 6 clasps, Salamanca, Pyrenees, Nivelle, Nive, Orthes, Toulouse (John Akenhead, 61st Foot) edge bruising, otherwise very fine £1400-1800

John Akenhead entered the 61st Foot on 25 September 1807, as a Private from the Durham Militia. He was appointed Corporal in 1809 and embarked for Portugal in September 1811, remaining in the Peninsula and France until his discharge from the 61st Foot on 3 November 1814. He is known to have subsequently served in the 8th Royal Veteran Battalion and later resided at Gateshead, County Durham. Sold with copied muster details and other research.
