New Zealand, Launch of HMS New Zealand, 1911, a silver medal, unsigned, crossed ferns, rev. battleship, hallmarked wn co Birmingham 1910, 27mm; HMS New Zealand, 1913, a silver medal by W.R. Bock, arms and supporters, rev. warship steaming left, 36mm (Morel 3; Fearon 364.2; cf. DNW M8, 2368) [2]. Surface marks, first good fine, with clip and ring for suspension, second about very fine and toned, in original leather wallet £60-80

The second medal was awarded by the citizens of Auckland to the officers and crew during the battleship’s visit to Auckland in 1913. The ship was subsequently present at the battle of Jutland, 31 May 1916
