Admiral Blake, Naval Reward, 1653, an oval gilt-bronze medal by A. Simon, bust three-quarters right in stiff ruff, armour and scarf across the breast, no legend, reverse naval engagement, ship sinking in foreground, on stern of which is the artist’s name, wreath border both sides, 50 x 43mm (cf. MI 401/31). With integral loop for suspension, good very fine, extremely rare; in shagreen case (£1,500-2,000)

Medallic work by Abraham Simon, brother of Thomas, is infrequently met with. Illustrated on back cover
