19th Century, Warwickshire, Warwickshire, Birmingham, Davis & Macmillan’s New Centenary tokens, 1893-4 (21), in bronzed-copper (Davis ‘Warwickshire’ 836, 839, 842, 845, 848, 851, 854, 857 [1894], 860, 863, 866 type 2, 869, 872, 876, 879; Bell, 1966, pp.273-4; cf. Spink 51, 291 [= Noble II, 387]). A complete set of the types, all brilliant and practically as struck; contained in a glazed frame fitted for 16 pieces (£400-450)

Issued by numismatists William John Davis (1848-1934) of Moseley and John Macmillan (1836-1921) of Edgbaston; 51 sets were struck in bronze, and issued by subscription at 2s. each. The tokens helped to publicise W.J. Davis’ The Token Coinage of Warwickshire (Birmingham, 1895), which was being compiled at the time the tokens made their appearance.
