Victoria (1837-1901), Proof set, 1839, comprising gold Five-Pounds, ‘Una and the Lion’, 39.60gm (WR 279; L & S 18), Sovereign and Half-Sovereign, silver Crown, Halfcrown, Shilling, Sixpence, Groat and Maundy set, copper, Penny, Halfpenny and Farthing, in original fitted case [14]. The Five-Pounds with a scratch on front fillet of bust, the reverse with two scratches in field behind Una, this and the other gold coins have surface marks, but brilliant, Halfcrown with two small edge nicks, all silver with dark even tone, Halfpenny with small carbon spot at 7 o’clock in obverse field, otherwise the copper with much original lustre, generally extremely fine or better (£15,000-20,000)
