Henry Brudenell-Bruce, 5th Marquis of Ailesbury (1842-1911), MP for Chippenham 1886-92. The Midland and South Western Junction Railway linked Cheltenham with Swindon, Marlborough, Andover, Romsey and Southampton. The complete line was opened in 1898
