Miscellaneous Tokens and Checks, LONDON, a George III, Twopence, 1797, obv. countermarked sg ew in rectangle (Sharman, SNC October 2008, p.243, this piece). Coin fine but edge knocked, countermark very fine, unusual £50-70

The initials in the countermark are those of the London goldsmiths Samuel Godbehere and Edward Wigan, recorded in partnership between 1786 and 1800 at 86 Cheapside. Sold with a copy of the article by Robert Sharman
