Whitsitt, Bechuanaland Protectorate Police); 1939-45 Star; Africa Star; Italy Star; Defence and War Medals; Africa Service Medal, these all officially named (226100 W. C. Whitsitt); Army L.S. & G.C., G.VI.R., 2nd issue, Bechuanaland (2919 Insp. W. C. Whitsitt), mounted court style for wear, contact marks and edge bruising, first and last especially so, good fine and better (8) £1200-1500

C.P.M. London Gazette 28 August 1951. ‘Sub-Inspector William Charles Whitsitt, Bechuanaland Protectorate Police Force’

William Charles Whitsitt was born in Johannesburg on 23 July 1912. A Policeman by occupation, he attested for the Union Defence Force at Johannesburg on 27 June 1941. Posted to the South African Artillery, he served with the 8th Armed Commando in Egypt and with the 22nd Field Regiment in Egypt and Italy.
