A rare Great War D.C.M. group of four awarded to Private E. J. Brooker, Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, who was decorated for his protracted gallantry from the Gallipoli landings to the War’s end - in which period he was twice wounded

D.C.M. London Gazette 11 March 1920:

‘For marked gallantry and devotion to duty. He landed with the Battalion in Gallipoli on the 25 April 1915, and he has served with them almost continuously since. During this period he has acted as a stretcher-bearer in the ranks and his work has carried him through some of the severest fighting, and he has been wounded twice in the performance of his duties. His conduct, both in and out of the line, has at all times been most exemplary’.

Brooker, who was from Brighton, was serving in the 1st Battalion at the time of the above deeds.
