Three: Squadron Quartermaster Serjeant E. Hamilton, 26th Hussars and Royal Armoured Corps

1939-45 Star; War Medal 1939-45, both unnamed; Army L.S. & G.C., G.VI.R., 1st issue, Regular Army (5432733 S.Q.M. Sjt., R.A.C.) mounted court style for wear, good very fine (5) £50-70

Ernest Hamilton served originally with the Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry. He transferred to the 26th Hussars in India on 1 February 1941, the day the regiment was raised. The 26th Hussars became part of the 255 Indian Tank Brigade in early 1942. He was posted back to the U.K. in March 1944 and spent the rest of the war at the R.A.C. Depot. S.Q.M.S. Hamilton was transferred to Class ‘Z’ Reserve in December 1946 and was discharged in October 1953.
