Charles Henry Harver was born in Bristol in May 1877 and entered the Royal Navy as a Stoker 2nd Class in January 1897. Having then come ashore as a Stoker Petty Officer ‘time-expired’ in January 1909, when he was enrolled in the Royal Fleet Reserve, he was recalled on the outbreak of hostilities in August 1914 and served, shore appointments aside, in the cruiser H.M.S. Glasgow from January 1916 until February 1918. Also awarded the L.S. & G.C. Medal in September 1917, he was demobilised in May 1919; sold with copied service record.
