James G. MacKenzie enlisted at Fort George, Invernesshire. With the 1st Battalion Seaforth Highlanders he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 3 February 1915. Serving with “A” Company 1st Battalion, he was killed in action on 9 May 1915, aged 31 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Le Touret Memorial. He was the son of James and Margaret Wallace MacKenzie, of ‘Belmaduthy’, St. Albans Road, Bootle, Liverpool.
