Sold with faded portrait photograph and original Mounted Infantry Certificate (1 July 1894).

William Harry Darman was born at Derby and enlisted there for the South Wales Borderers on 6 November 1889. He served in Egypt from December 1892 to April 1895, during which period he completed the 3 months’ course of instruction for Mounted Infantry at Abbassiyeh on 1 July 1894. He served in South Africa from January 1900 to 19 August 1902, and was discharged shortly after his return to the U.K, on 21 August 1902.
