Pair: Major-General William S. Aslett, Royal Marines

Crimea 1854-56, 2 clasps, Sebastopol, Balaklava (Captn. Wm. S. Aslett, R.M.) officially impressed naming, clasps mounted in that order, with ornate silver brooch bar, pitted; Ottoman Empire, Order of Medjidie, 5th Class breast badge, silver, gold and enamel, replacement suspension, with silver brooch bar, first nearly very fine; second good very fine (2)

William Stratton Aslett was born on 22 April 1818. On 5 August 1837 he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Marines and was advanced to 1st Lieutenant in September the same year. In May 1848 he was appointed Adjutant and was promoted to Captain in October 1849. He served in the Crimea aboard H.M.S. Rodney, for which he was awarded the brevet of Major, 12 December 1854 and awarded the Order of Medjidie 5th Class (London Gazette 3 April 1858). Aslett was promoted to Lieutenant-Colonel in June 1861; Colonel Second Commandant in December 1865; and Colonel Commandant in February 1867. He was placed on the reserve in 1872 and attained the rank of Major-General in February 1875. Major-General Aslett died at Gosport, Hampshire on 28 July 1876.
