Agnes Forbes Blackadder was born in Dundee in 1876. She graduated first from the University of St. Andrews in 1895 receiving the degree of Master of Arts. Her first degree in medicine, M.B., Ch.B., of the University of Glasgow, was obtained in 1898 and the higher degree of M.D. in 1901. Dr Blackadder married Dr Thomas Dixon Savill in 1901 - he died in 1910.

Dr Agnes Savill developed an interest in Dermatology and became a Physician to the Skin Hospital, Leicester Square, London.

Early in the Great war she joined the staff of the Scottish Women’s Hospitals, entering France in May 1915. Serving at Royaumont Hospital, near Paris, she was placed in charge of the x-ray and electro-therapy departments. She served there until the end of 1916.

The author of several books and papers on her own subjects, she was also editor of her late husband’s Clinical Medicine and in 1955 had published her Alexander the Great and his Time. Dr Agnes Savill died on 12 May 1964.
