Burma Police Medal Burma Gazette 15 February 1947. ‘Constable Hka Hkui (of Mawk Hkio Sau), Lashio Battalion, Frontier Constabulary, was serving in the Manglun Company of the Lashio Battalion Battalion of the Frontier Constabulary which formed No. 3 Column in the operations against bandits in the Wa States between January and March 1946. It was the role of No. 3 Column to attack and dislodge bandits from posts held by them in Loilon and Ngeklet States, and thus cut off from their base other bandits further north who were to be attacked and dispersed by other columns.

On the 18th February 1946 in the attack against the Hto Nong bandit post, Constable Kya Hkui charged the main bandit outpost under heavy fire, killed three of the bandits and threw the rest into confusion. He called on the remainder of his section to follow and the outpost was cleared of bandits and burned, leaving the way open for the attack on the final bandit outpost of Ving Ngun.’ With copied gazette extract.
