4th Queen’s Own Light Dragoons Officers’ Mess Dessert Plate. A very fine and extremely rare example (22.5 cms) of rococo outline, the border decorated with a broad Union wreath in grey and black. On the central reserve a crowned circular strap ‘Mente Et Manu’ encloses ‘IV/Queen’s Own/Lt Drags’ rests upon crossed guidons bearing the Peninsula battle honours. The reverse with simple printed legend in green ‘SPODE’ and an impressed mark ‘16’, c. 1810 - 1833, excellent condition £350-450
