An 1831 Pattern General Officer’s Mameluke Sabre. The 79cm spearpoint bright blade by ‘Hawkes & Co. Piccadilly London’ is etched with a crowned GVR cypher crossed sword/ baton and elaborate foliate panelling, gilt metal cross-guards with embossed decoration incorporating crossed sword/baton within laurel sprays, slab ivory hand grips, gold and crimson lace sword knot.
