Sidney Denis Calvert was born on 14 May 1910. Gained the degree of B.A. Commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the R.E. on 30 January 1930. Promoted to Lieutenant in January 1933 and Captain in August 1938; Adjutant to the T.A., February 1939-January 1940.
