School of Military Engineering Fowke’s Medal, obverse: high relief uniformed bust of Francis Fowke left; reverse: within a stylized wreath of laurel, ‘Memorial Medal established by the officers of Royal Engineers as an Architectural Prize in the Corps’ (2nd Lieut. A. A. Crookshank R.E. 1895) 58mm., 7mm. thick, silver, ref. B.H.M. 2940, Eimer 1581, nearly extremely fine £80-100

Arthur Alexander Crookshank, R.E. served in the Tochi expedition on the N.W. Frontier 1897-98 (medal and clasp). As a Major in the R.E. he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war in November 1915 (1914-15 Star trio). Served in France and Belgium, November 1915-December 1917 and April-November 1918 and in Italy, January-March 1918. Was wounded. Served as C.R.E. with 32 Division, from 10 July 1916 and with 11 Corps Troops from 7 April 1917. In command of the 18th Pioneer Battalion Middlesex Regiment from 1 November 1918.
