On 11 July 1863, Quartermaster James H. Clyne, R.N., serving aboard H.M.S.
Severn, in Trincomalee. A man, Nickton accidentally fell overboard. Clyne jumped overboard after him but his attempt to rescue failed as Nickton sank. (R.H.S. Case No. 17,177).
