B.E.M. London Gazette 1 January 1945. The recommendation states: ‘Flight Sergeant Eric Phillpotts, No. 330 Wing Headquarters. This airman is employed on disciplinarian duties which he has carried out in an outstanding manner. In October 1943, his Wing was completely flooded whilst at Kairouan and although Flight Sergeant Phillpotts was one of the chief sufferers, he worked unceasingly to get the camp site reorganised. Again, on the occasions when the Wing moved to Oudna, Cerignola, Amendola and Regina, he inspired others to put forth their fullest efforts. Sergeant Phillpotts is a very good craftsman and has constantly applied his knowledge and ability in improvising equipment to provide airmen with the maximum amount of comfort. He has worked untiringly for the welfare of the unit.’
