A Second World War Burma Operations M.M. group of five awarded to Bombardier F. B. Dunn, 46/10 Field Regiment, Royal Artillery

Military Medal, G.VI.R. (880339 Bmbr., R.A.); 1939-45 Star; Burma Star; Defence & War Medals, extremely fine (5) £450-550

M.M. London Gazette 6 June 1946. The following details are taken from the original recommendation: ‘Throughout the period under review Bdr Dunn has been employed as an observation post signaller. His very high technical efficiency and consistency as a wireless operator throughout the period has been most marked and his conduct and efficiency has been unimpaired by enemy fire. On 20 June 1944 at Thumion Khulen village, Bdr Dunn was with an observation post party on the Kohima-Imphal Road which was suddenly held up by light machine gun fire. Bdr Dunn immediately passed through orders for bringing down artillery fire, quite unmoved by the fact that he and his set were fully in the open. During the crossing of the Irrawaddy on 25 February 1945 Bdr Dunn was wounded but superintended the evacuation of all signal equipment which he handed over, assisted in removing the wounded, including his Battery Commander and did not reveal that he himself was wounded until he was satisfied that the evacuation of the party had been completed.’
