Crimea 1854-56, 1 clasp, Sebastopol (Captn., 89th Regt.) contemporary engraved naming, fitted with silver ribbon buckle; Legion of Honour, Knight’s breast badge, silver, gold and enamels, fitted with silver ribbon buckle, chips to points of several arms and to central legends; Order of the Medjidie, 5th class breast badge, silver, gold and enamel, fitted with gold ribbon buckle; Turkish Crimea, Sardinian issue (Brevet Major, 89th Regt.) fitted with silver ribbon buckle, each medal contained in a Hunt & Roskell, late Storr & Mortimer fitted case, together with four original commission documents as Lieutenant, Adjutant, and Captain in the 89th Regiment, and as Major in the Army, an attractive group, generally good very fine (4) £350-450

John McDonald Cuppage was appointed Ensign in the 89th Regiment on 10 November 1843; Lieutenant, 8 August 1845; Captain, 29 December 1854; Major in the Army, 6 June 1856; Major in the 89th, 23 April 1861. He served in the Crimea from 14 December 1854, including the siege and fall of Sebastopol, and attacks of the 18th June and 8th September (Medal with clasp, Brevet of Major, Knight of Legion of Honour, 5th Class of Medjidie, Turkish Medal).
