Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 2 clasps, Cape Colony, S.A. 1902 (2/Lieut. G. S. A. Douglas, North’d Fus.) nearly very fine £140-180

Gordon Stanhope Atherton Douglas was born at Southsea, Hampshire, on 29 September 1882, and educated at Wellington College. He was appointed 2nd Lieutenant in the 4th Battalion, Norfolk Regiment, in August 1901, and transferred to the Northumberland Fusiliers in January 1902, with whom he served in South Africa during the operations in Cape Colony in May 1902. He was transferred compulsorily to the East Yorkshire Regiment in February 1908 and served with them in France from 1 January 1915 until he was very severely wounded by gunshots in the right arm and calf. Sold with research.
