John Cole was born in November 1835, near Taunton, Somerset, and joined the Royal Navy as a Boy 1st Class in January 1854. He served aboard Hogue in the Baltic, transferred to Impregnable in May 1856, and purchased his discharge in January 1860. Sold with research.
