O.B.E. London Gazette 29 March 1945. ‘For gallant and distinguished service in North West Europe.’ ‘Colonel Harold Arthur Guy, R.E.M.E., from Gloucester.’

Recommendation reads: ‘This officer has been REME (Technical) of this HQ for some months. During this period he has been responsible under me for the whole of the technical side of REME in the Army Group. He has been responsible for investigating all the many defect reports on all types of equipment, liaising with the technical and org staff at Armies on special requirements, and providing solutions to the many and varied problems which arise. By his tact and patience he has been able to ensure that the technical staffs of REME, NTSFF and AFV(T) work together as one team, and so make certain that the Army Group staff receive the best and most up to date technical advice. His work in this difficult task has been outstanding, and greatly assisted the technical efficiency of this force.’

H. A. Guy, R.E.M.E. (T.A.) appointed to Acting Colonel on 24 May 1943 and Temporary Colonel on 24 November 1943.
