Pair: Farrier-Sergeant R. Guy, Royal Field Artillery

Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 5 clasps, Tugela Heights, Orange Free State, Relief of Ladysmith, Transvaal, Laing’s Nek (78869 Cpl. Shg. Sth., 64th Bty. Roland Guy was born in Wellington, Shropshire. A Boiler Smith by occupation and a member of the 3rd Battalion Shropshire Light Infantry, he attested for the Royal Artillery at Shrewsbury on 14 April 1890, aged 26 years, 4 months. He served variously as a Gunner or Shoeing-Smith. Transferred to the Army Reserve in November 1897 but rejoined the Colours in July 1898. Served in South Africa and promoted to Corporal Shoeing-Smith in April 1902 and Farrier Sergeant in July 1905. Discharged at his own request on 8 November 1908. With copied service papers.
