The impressive group of awards to Lieutenant J. S. Birch, Imperial Yeomanry, latterly ‘Birch Pasha’, Egyptian Army

Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 3 clasps, Cape Colony, Wittebergen, South Africa 1901 (Lieut. J. S. Birch, 11/Impl. Yeo.) edge bruising; together with a miniature dress medal; Ottoman Empire, Order of Medjidie (3) 1st Class breast star, silver, gold and enamel, unmarked, with full sash ribbon; another, 2nd Class breast star, silver, gold and enamel, with embossed Arabic backplate and stamp marks; 2nd/3rd Class neck badge, silver, gold and enamel, similarly marked, with neck cravat; Order of Osmania, 3rd Class neck badge, silver, silver-gilt and enamel, with neck cravat, this last with slight enamel damage, all the above in a fitted Spink, London leather case, with lid inscribed in gilt lettering, ‘Birch Pasha appointed Egyptian Service April 1884 resigned December 1912.’ good very fine and better (6) £1400-1800
