Charles Tomlinson was born on 26 April 1880. An Insurance Collector by occupation he enlisted in the Canadian Special Service Forces at Toronto on 20 October 1899. He served in South Africa with the 2nd Battalion Royal Canadian Regiment. He was discharged on 5 November 1900 and was awarded the Queen’s Medal with clasps for Cape Colony, Paardeberg and Driefontein (medal known to exist). Tomlinson, then employed as a Photographer, attested for service in the Great War at Ottawa on 27 August 1914. With copied research.
