Greenock Tribute Medal 1900, by Walter & George Myers, Birmingham, ornate openwork circlet surmounted by a coronet, obverse, emblem of Greenock - a three masted sailing ship under full sail, in the foreground a quay upon which one man is rolling a barrel under the direction of another, inscribed, ‘God Speed Greenock’, reverse inscribed, ‘South African War 1900’, 39 x 27mm., 9ct. gold, 6.08g., hallmarks for Birmingham 1898, ring suspension, extremely fine, rare £400-500

The recorded Greenock Tribute Medal listed in Hibbard (ref. C.9) is a more simple oval gold medal but the two share the same obverse emblem of sailing ship and quayside workmen.
