Sea Gallantry Medal (Foreign Services), V.R., small, silver, ‘From the British Government, For Gallantry and Humanity’ (K. Hansen 2nd September 1887) good very fine £250-300

K. Hansen, a member of the boat’s crew from the Norwegian Barque Ageroen, of Lillesand, Norway, assisted in taking off the crew of the Rothbury of Grimsby, at very great risk, at night, in bad weather and high seas. The Barque Ageroen deviated her course to land the crew at Falmouth, losing six days.
