Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 3rd issue, small letter reverse (167 Corpl. J. Lake, E. Bde. R.H.A.) with silver brooch bar, minor edge bruising, very fine £70-90

James Lake was born in the Parish of Fennington, Gloucestershire. A Farm Labourer by occupation, he attested for the Royal Artillery at Cirencester on 19 October 1855, aged 19 years, 2 months. He transferred to the R.H.A. in April 1875. Lake served over 4 years in India. Awarded four Good Conduct Badges in addition to his L.S. & G.C. Medal. He was discharged at Dorchester on 24 October 1872 having completed his second period of limited engagement. With copied service papers. .
