John Graham was born in the Parish of Killyman, Co. Tyrone. He enlisted into the 74th Foot on 28 March 1857, aged 13 years, 8 months. With the regiment he served in the East Indies, March 1857-March 1864; Mediterranean, February 1868-December 1876, and with the China command, December 1876-January 1880. He was discharged on 5 April 1882. He was awarded the Long Service medal in 1880 and was in possession of four Good Conduct Badges. With copied service papers.
