Edwin Houghton was born on 17 June 1859. He joined the Army Hospital Corps as a Private in 1881. After serving as a Serjeant in the Medical Staff Corps and as a Warrant Officer in the R.A.M.C., he was appointed a Quartermaster and Hon. Lieutenant in March 1900. He was advanced to Quartermaster & Hon. Captain in March 1910 and placed on Retired Pay in June 1914. Re-employed in August 1914, he was promoted to Quartermaster & Hon. Major in May 1915. Reverting to Retired Pay in April 1920, he died on 21 October 1934. With copied research.
