India General Service 1854-95, 1 clasp, Bhootan (Mjr. C. Baily, 11th N.I.) slight edge bruising, good very fine £400-500

Charles Baily was the son of Robert (Gentleman) and Frances Baily and was baptised in Kennington on 3 September 1823. In March 1845 he was nominated as a Cadet for the East India Company’s Service. Appointed an Ensign on 14 June 1845, he served with the Army of the Sutlej in 1846. Promoted to Lieutenant in November 1853, he served with the 19th Punjab Infantry in the expedition to China 1860. On 14 June 1860 he was granted the brevet of Captain. Promoted to Major in June 1865, he was transferred to the Bengal Staff Corps in September 1866. As a Major in the 11th Native Infantry he served in the Bhootan campaign, 1864-66. He retired in 1868. With copied research.
