Medals Related to Aviation, France, First French Aerial Crossing of the North Atlantic from West to East, 1929, a bronze medal by Anie Mouroux, conjoined busts of Assollant, Lefèvre and Lotti to right, reverse aircraft in cloudsd above a map of the globe showing the route from the USA to Spain, 68mm (CGMP p.283; cf. BDW 18, 514, DNW 35, 573 and 42, 1307). Extremely fine and virtually as struck; in red fitted case of issue (£70-90)

Jean Assollant, the pilot, together with Rene Lefèvre, his navigator, and Armand Lotti, sponsor of the trip, left Old Orchard, Maine, on 13 June 1929, landing at Comillas in Northern Spain after a journey of 5,500km in 29 hours 20 minutes
