Lebanon, Foire-Exposition, Beirut, 1921, a cast bronze plaque by H.-E. Nocq for the Comité Français, bust of Général Gouraud in cap right, reverse aerial view of Beirut in cartouche, thistles below, 78 x 53mm. Extremely fine, most attractive patina, rare (£50-70)

The Beirut International Expo of 1921, which featured over 1,350 exhibitors from all over Europe and North Africa, ran from 15 Apr. to 30 May. Général Gouraud was the French High Commissioner in Beirut at the time; later he became Military Governor of Paris (cf. BDW 5, 112)
