France, Pieta, 1895, a large uniface cast bronze plaque by J.-B. Daniel-Dupuis, Virgin Mary kneeling beside the body of Christ lying in his tomb, 360 x 162mm (BDM I, 665 [dated to 1896]; Gaz. Num. 1898, p.192, 310; cf. DNW 38, 726). Extremely fine and attractively patinated, very rare in this large size (£180-220)
