Diedrich Uhlhorn (1764-1837), engineer from Grevenbroich, invented an improved coining press, which was first exhibited at the Dusseldorf Diplomatic Congress in 1818. His presses were subsequently employed at the mints in Berlin (1820), London (1828) and Paris (1834). His son Heinrich succeeded him in the business
