M.M. London Gazette 19 February 1917: ‘... award of the Military Medal for bravery in the Field to the undermentioned Non-commissioned officers and men, since deceased, who have been killed in action or died of wounds, subsequent to the date of the award of the Military Medal to them by the Commander-in-Chief in the Field.’

Lance-Sergeant William Harris, 2nd Bn. South Wales Borderers, was killed in action, France & Flanders, 1st July 1916. He is buried in Hawthorn Ridge Cemetery No. 2, Auchonvillers. Sold with a copy of the battalion War Diary for the 1st July 1916, and other research.
