Four: Air Mechanic R. G. L. Marran, South African Air Force

1939-45 Star; Italy Star; War Medal; Africa Service Medal, all officially named (105861 R. G. L. Marran) together with transmission slip, S.A.A.F. cap badge and enamelled Squadron lapel badge, very fine (6) £30-40

Richard George Leslie Marran was born on 17 October 1907. He was employed as a postman before joining up in October 1940. He had previously served 5 years in the Imperial Light Horse as Acting Sergeant, and was initially posted to the South African Artillery. He subsequently qualified as an Air Mechanic (Fitter) and transferred to the S.A.A.F., serving during the war with No’s. 27, 31 (Heavy Bomber), and 25 Squadrons. Sold with copy service papers.
