Lieutenant Harold Cecil Dunstan Harris was born on 19 July 1890, the son of John and Elizabeth Harris of 26 Rhymney Terrace, Cathays, Cardiff. In civil life he had worked as a Press Photographer and Journalist with the Western Mail in cardiff.

He was gazetted as a Second Lieutenant, from the Inns of Court O.T.C. into the 1st Battalion the Monmouthshire Regiment on 9 December 1915, and Promoted to Lieutenant in 1917, he transferred to the Royal Flying Corps where he trained as a pilot later seeing service in Egypt and France. He was released from the Royal Air Force on 8 February 1919.

Harris is listed by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission as having died on 4 October 1919, whilst serving with the 1st Battalion, Monmouthshire Regiment, and is buried in Belfast City Cemetery, Noerthern Ireland. The cause of his death is not known and may prove worthy of further research.
