Craneman Michael John Cronin was killed when the steamship Garmoyle was torpedoed and sunk by a German submarine 14 miles south east of Mine Head, Waterford on 10 July 1917. The Captain and 19 of the crew were killed.

Fireman Charles E. Martin was killed when the Irish packet
Bandon was torpedoed and sunk by a German submarine two and a half miles south west of Mine Head, Waterford on 13 April 1917. Twenty eight persons were killed, the Captain being amongst the survivors.

Sold with copied C.W.G.C. details showing both of their next of kin addresses as being ‘29 St Patrick’s Quay, Cork.’
