Sergeant William Thomas Challen was killed in action on 8 November 1914, and is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial. The 1st battalion lost about 100 men killed, wounded and missing, in an attack near Hooge Chateau. Sold with copies from the War Diary.

Lance Corporal Stephen Henry Challen was killed in action on 10 July 1916, and is buried in Pozieres British Cemetery, Ovillers-La Boiselle, Somme.
